Minister Grabar-Kitarović and State Secretary Bišćević received to farewell visit Australian Ambassador Anne George

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 6 September 2006 to a farewell visit the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Anne George

Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed her satisfaction with the development of the bilateral relations between the two countries and thanked Ambassador George for her personal and professional engagement during her mandate, especially in promoting gender equality and family violence prevention.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed hope that after leaving Croatia, Ambassador George will continue to support the development of the relations between Croatia and Australia. There is still room for improvement, especially in economy, as well as in visa regime, said Minister Grabar-Kitarović.

Ambassador George expressed her satisfaction with the co-operation during her mandate, stressing she is particularly satisfied with the increase of Australia’s investment in Croatia and Croatia’s role in the region.

Ambassador George was received earlier by State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Bišćević. The two expressed their satisfaction with the high level of relations between Croatia and Australia, concluding that the two countries’ friendly relations are in part due to the large Croatian community in Australia.

The two also emphasized the need for a further intensification and enhancement of the economic and cultural co-operation, pointing out the importance of the two countries’ co-operation on the multilateral level as well, by acting through various organisations and forums.
