The Republic of Croatia recognized officialy the Republic of Montenegro as an independant and sovereign state on July 12, 2006 and proposed the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Goverment of the Republic of Croatia in its statement about relations with the Republic of Montenegro is expressing readiness for further development of good neighborly relations and cooperation based „on basis of equality and reciprocity, on the line of admission to the Euroatlantic integration for the purpose of reinforcing the permanent cooperation between this two countries in the interest of peace, stability and progress“.
