Croatian Ambassador to the US accredited to Mexico, Neven Jurica, handed today, 23 March 2006 in Mexico City, his credentials to the President of the United Mexican States, Vicente Fox Quesada
Ambassador Jurica communicated to President Fox the greetings by Croatian President Stjepan Mesić and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, pointing out the good and friendly relations between the two countries. Ambassador Jurica informed President Fox about the Croatian policy towards the EU and NATO, and explained Croatia’s role in South East Europe, which with its EU and NATO candidate status and a highly developed democratic standards serves as an example and a help to the neighbouring countries in the region. Ambassador Jurica said that Mexico, as a Latin American country with special bilateral agreements with the EU, can through Croatia further develop its relations with the entire South East Europe. Ambassador Jurica also pointed out the need for a further development of the economic and tourist relations.
President Fox thanked for the greetings and pointed out the importance Croatia has in this part of Europe, expressing his satisfaction with the friendly relations between the two countries and commending Croatia’s progress in approaching the Euro-Atlantic integrations. President Fox also expressed readiness for an even stronger intensification of the relations between the United Mexican States and the Republic of Croatia, stating that there is a lot of room for improvement.
