Academy’s Dean Petar Turčinović opened Gelo’s lecture, who is a Deputy Director of the Sector for Agriculture, Food Industry, and Forestry at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, acting as a member of the Negotiating Team for the chapters Agriculture and Rural Development, Fisheries, Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Measures, and Consumer Health and Protection.
In her lecture, Gelo stressed the importance of the Chapter Agriculture and Rural Development, reviewing the progress of the screening process for that area, that the European Commission has described as very successful.
She went on to explain the mechanisms of the EU’s agriculture and rural policy, providing an overview of the institutional modifications related to Croatia’s acceding to the EU.
The Series of Lectures by Members of the Team for Croatia’s Accession Negotiations with the EU began end-2005 and is designed for MFAEI officials and civil servants.
