Minister Grabar-Kitarović taking part at 42nd Munich Conference on Security Policy

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is taking part at the 42nd Munich Conference on Security Policy, held 4 and 5 February 2006 in Munich, the Federal Republic of Germany

The Croatian delegation consists of the representatives from MFAEI and the Ministry of Defence, headed by Minister Grabar-Kitarović and Defence Minister Berislav Rončević.

n her speech, Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that the processes of acceding to the EU and NATO are concurrent and mutually complementary. She said that based on the achievements so far in approaching the EU and opening the accession negotiations with it, as well as the achievements in implementing the Membership Action Plan (MAP), Croatia is expecting to be invited to join NATO as well.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović also said that NATO is the main forum for the international dialogue on security, defence and military political issues. For Croatia, NATO is not only a military alliance, but also a system of shared values such as liberal democracy, the respect for human rights, free enterprise, and responsibility in ensuring global security and just international order.
