Croatian Consul General to Hamburg Žarko Plevnik assumed on Friday, 28 October 2005, the duty of the dean of Hamburg’s diplomatic corps
The ceremony took place at the Hamburg’s Senate where Plevnik assumed the duty from the former dean, Austrian Consul General Adolf Klement. Plevnik stated that this corps is very important for Croatia in a time of opening the accession negotiations with the EU.
Expressing his gratitude for the trust and honour, Plevnik pointed out that Hamburg and Croatia are ties by a long history, since more than 400,000 Croatian citizens left from the Hamburg port for the United States.
