Press release on Slovenia’s passing of the law on declaring an ecological zone and continental shelf

On the occasion of the passing of the law on declaring an ecological zone and continental shelf at today’s session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration wishes to reiterate once again Croatia’s position, clearly stated in the Croatian Government’s press release from 25 August 2005, that this is a legally null and unfounded act

The MFAEI also wants to point out that Croatia’s interest to continue working on developing good neighbourly relations with Slovenia is unquestionable, and is willing to solve all open issues in an atmosphere of close partnership based on historical proximity and friendship of the two nations.

In that spirit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, communicated to Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel the Croatian Government’s official proposal that the issue of the maritime border between Croatia and Slovenia be submitted to an international legal body.
