Special Adviser Mayanja applauded Croatia’s efforts, saying that much has been done, but there is still a lot to do, not only in Croatia but in other countries as well. Special Adviser Mayanja reminded about the importance of commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Peking Declaration, pointing out that the implementation and strengthening of legal provision against violence towards women on a national level is crucial for the betterment of their position. She also pointed out that this year will see the 5th anniversary of the adoption of the Security Council’s Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security.
At the end of the meeting, Special Adviser Mayanja asked for Croatia’s support to the demand that the number of the Committee’s annual meetings be increased for a more thorough and timely consideration of the members’ national reports.
