At the same time, they asked for a greater engagement by the Croatian services and the government itself to ensure the Statement is being consistently implemented by both sides, obligations fulfilled the lives of people along the border made easier and the interests of Croatian fishermen protected.
The Minister informed them about the Croatian government’s efforts in implementing the Statement, explaining the contacts with the European Commission in preparing the fishing rights and in preparations for the pending visit by ministers Božidar Kalmeta and Petar Čobanković to Umag and their meeting with the representatives of the fishermen’s guild.
The tales also discussed the occasional unnecessary tensions along the continental border as well, expressing conviction that the higher level contacts will ensure the correct and good neighbourly solution of the issues that are in both countries’ interest.
