State Secretary Hido Biščević invited to MFAEI Slovenian Ambassador Andrej Bekeš

State Secretary for Political Affairs Hido Biščević invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Slovenian Ambassador Andrej Bekeš to hand him Croatia’s protest note regarding the Slovenian Government’s decision to accept the bill on the declaration of the ecological zone and continental shelf

Ambassador Bekeš was informed about Croatia’s dissatisfaction and disappointment with the Slovenian Government’s decision which harms the good neighbourly relations between the two countries. State Secretary Biščević pointed out that the decision clashes with the Joint Statement on the Avoidance of Incidents, adopted at the joint session of the two governments, by which Slovenia and Croatia obliged not to jeopardise the solution of the border issue, nor change the situation along the border. Croatia considers particularly unacceptable the setting of the temporary southern border at 45° 10’, which is absolutely and undeniably within the Croatian nationally territory.

State Secretary Biščević reiterated Croatia’s willingness to go on with the dialogue and co-operation with the aim of further developing the bilateral relations between the two countries sharing the same values and strategic goals, in the spirit of European co-operation and the tradition of mutual respect.
