Croatian ambassador to Jakarta spoke with members of the Foreign Policy and Defence Commission of the Indonesian Parliament and Indonesian foreign minister on the case of detaining the Croatian ship Mirna

Croatian ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Aleksandar Broz, accompanied by the ship’s lawyer and the Indonesian representative of Lošinjska Plovidba, informed today, 25 August 2005, in detail the members of the Foreign Policy and Defence Commission of the Indonesian Parliament in Jakarta about the events and the Croatian side’s position on the case of detaining the Croatian ship Mirna

After meeting with the Commission, the Croatian ambassador spoke with the Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda about the modalities for the ship’s temporary release, on which further consultations will be held between the Indonesian bodies, as well as with the Croatian shipowner. Contacts and co-operation on the case are to be continued between the Croatian Embassy and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Croatian ambassador’s appearance before the Commission was preceded by the Embassy’s second man’s visit to Mirna, 24 August 2005, after meeting with the Indonesian lawyer of Lošinjska plovidba and representative of the Surabaya port agent. A meeting was held on the ship with the ship’s captain Joso Nekić and the crew, who were informed of the efforts by the highest Croatian officials, especially the MFAEI and the Croatian Embassy to Jakarta, in solving this case.
