State Secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry Gordan Bakota paid a working visit to the State of Israel, from July 7 to 10, 2005, where he met with a number of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs high ranking officials
State Secretary Bakota discussed with the Bureau of Human Resources head Noah Gal-Gendler, and with the head of the Bureau of Overseas Personnel Management Danny Biran the issue of the ministry's internal structure and administration, as well as some consular issues. Future co-operation between the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry's Diplomatic Academy and the Israeli Overseas Training Department was arranged. Future Israeli Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia Shumel Meir accompanied the Croatian delegation during the whole of their visit.
During the visit, organised by the Croatian Embassy in Tel Aviv, State Secretary Gordan Bakota and the Assistant Minister Mira Martinec met with the representatives of the Association of Jews from Former Yugoslavia, who had been living in the territory of Croatia. State Secretary Bakota also met with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia for the State of Israel Samuel Sclesinger, and the representatives of the Israeli-Croatian Friendship League. At the meeting with prominent Israeli businessmen, the need to enhance the economy relations between the two countries was stressed, and the actual economy co-operation discussed.
