The Fourth Meeting of the Mixed Committee for cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Hungary held, presided by State Secretaries Biščević and Barsony

The Fourth Meeting of the Mixed Committee for cooperation between the governments of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Hungary was held on Plitvice today, July 8, 2005.

State Secretaries Biščević and Bársony confirmed their countries' excellent bilateral relations, developing in the spirit of openness and mutual confidence. State Secretary Biščević thanked the Hungarian State Secretary Bársony on the overall help and support that Hungary has given Croatia during its efforts to join the Euro-Atlantic integrations.

The meeting's record shows that Croatia and Hungary agreed to cooperate in the fields of traffic infrastructure, hydrocarbon and electricity, industrial contacts, tourism, science, education and culture, ecology, in the Hungarian-Croatian EU action program, and in bilateral treaties.

Building a bridge over the Mura River; collecting financial means for publishing a new Croatian-Hungarian and Hungarian-Croatian dictionary; organising Hungarian expert and linguistic training at the Osijek University; increase in cooperation in the field of ecology, and the beginning of negotiations on signing a bilateral Treaty on ensuring the visibility of the common border crossing were stressed as projects of great importance.

Treaty between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Hungary on the establishment of a common border crossing Goričan-Letenye II for controlling the traffic of persons at the mutual location on the highway was signed during the meeting. This is the first international treaty of the kind signed between the Republic of Croatia and one of the European Union countries.
