Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met today, July 5, 2005, with European Council's Secretary General and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium

Minister Grabar-Kitarović reported to European Council's Secretary General and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Solana on the Croatian government activities regarding the implementation of the Action Plan, and said she wished for the pre-accession negotiations to start in the near future.

European Council's Secretary General and High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana repeated that European Union's doors were open to the Republic of Croatia, and that entry negotiations would start as soon as Croatia's full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague was confirmed. He said he believed the European Union enlargement process would continue despite current discussions within the Union on the negative results of referendums on the European Union Constitution, held in France and the Netherlands.

Discussing the regional cooperation, Minister Grabar-Kitarović stressed the importance of this cooperation for the Republic of Croatia, and reported on all the activities the Croatian government was taking, as well as on the ones that were scheduled for the upcoming period.
