Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received today, 30 May 2005 in Zagreb, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Karel de Gucht, who is on an official working visit to the Republic of Croatia
Minister Grabar-Kitarović described the bilateral relations between Croatia and Belgium as very good, pointing out that there are no open issues. Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed Minister de Gucht about the maximum effort Croatia is putting forth in meeting the conditions of full co-operation with the ICTY at the Hague and thanked for Belgium’s active support.
Minister de Gucht reiterated Belgium’s position that it will continue to support Croatia in its process of joining the EU. On this occasion, the two ministers signed the Protocol between the Republic of Croatia and Kingdom of Belgium on the income services of the diplomatic and consular staff family members, which is the first such agreement that Belgium has signed with another European country, as well as the Joint Statement in which the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium obliged to financially support the reconstruction of the Vukovar port and renovation of the joint railway bridge between Erdut and Bogojevo.
