State Secretary at the MFA Gordan Bakota visited Great Britain where he had official talks in British Home Office and Foreign Office in London
State Secretary for Organisation, Development and Management Gordan Bakota met in the UK Foreign Office with Head of Management and Information Technology Group Vanessa Davies, Programme Director at the Organisation Project Unit Daniel Pruce, and Head of the Strategy and Innovation Division Anna Pringle, with whom he exchanged experiences and agreed on further co-operation. To Head of the Department for Consular Assistance Janet Douglas he presented the Croatian project on seminars in fighting human trafficking. For the purposes of education and closer co-operation, Bakota and others agreed on the possibility of occasional practical work and training of Croatian diplomats in relevant departments of the UK Foreign Office, as well as the Foreign Office’s support to the reforms in the Croatian MFA.
At the meeting, Head of the Visa Department Kevin Egan expressed his satisfaction with a decrease in requests for asylum in the UK by Croatian citizens. Information was exchanged on the visa regime currently in effect between Croatia and the UK, and perspectives were considered on furthering the co-operation in that matter in view of Croatia’s acceding to the EU.
