Minister Žužul to hold a lecture at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, commemorating the UN Day

Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul will hold a lecture tomorrow, 20 October 2004, at 12 PM, at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, commemorating the UN Day, the 59th anniversary of the UN, celebrated on 24 October

The lecture is entitled “Croatia and the United Nations” and will be held as a part of the UN Open Days, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN agencies in Croatia, in agreement with the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb.

On Thursday, 20 October 2004, at 12 PM, a round table will be held at the Press Club in Zagreb entitled “UN as a part of global politics and Croatia’s role in the UN in the 21st century”, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN agencies in Croatia. Participating at the round table will be Hido Biščević, State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The United Nations, established 59 years ago, is a central international organisation with a crucial role in today’s international relations. It encompasses more than 30 programs and funds, and a series of specialised organisations and agencies. The UN is a convergence point of international co-operation in seeking the best solutions to today’s global issues. Since becoming its member in 1992, Croatia has actively participated in solving the international political, economic and social issues of today.
