State Secretary Biščević received the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation Wolfgang Hoffmann

State Secretary for Political Issues Hido Biščević received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zagreb the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) Wolfgang Hoffmann

Executive Secretary Hoffmann asked of Croatia, as a country which has ratified the Treaty, to encourage other countries in the region to ratify it. Hoffmann also offered assistance in the setting up of a National Data Centre that would use the information from the CTBTO International Date Center. State Secretary Biščević informed Executive Secretary Hoffmann that

Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul expressed support of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty in his speech at the UN Headquarters in New York 5 days ago, adding that Croatia is willing to use its influence and friendly relations to encourage other countries in the region which have not yet ratified the CTBT to do so.

State Secretary Biščević stated that Croatia is interested in the setting up of a National Data Centre and is currently reviewing the CTBTO’s proposal for organising a field practice on the Croatian territory in 2006. Biščević expressed his conviction that Executive Secretary Hoffmann’s efforts and dedicated work will contribute to CTBTO’s activities.
