Political consultations held between Croatian and Austrian foreign ministries

Political consultations were held today, 17 September, in Zagreb, between Croatian and Austrian foreign ministries

State secretaries Biščević and Kyrle discussed further co-operation between the two countries, and especially Croatia’s accession to the EU. Austria confirmed that it will continue to give its full support in the process.

Opinions were exchanged about the situation in South Eastern Europe and the measures and activities of the EU and international community were discussed regarding the setting up of a permanent stability and security in South Eastern Europe, including Kosovo.

The Austria will continue to support Croatia’s joining the Regional Partnership (Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia), a regional group formed in 2001 for the purposes of mutual help between these countries in the process of European integration. The two state secretaries agreed on the way of strengthening future co-operation between Croatia and Austria on a bi- and multilateral level, as well as co-operation within the framework of international organisations.

Also taking part in the talks was State Secretary at the Croatian MFA Gordan Bakota, who exchanged opinions with the Austrian side regarding the organisation of the diplomatic network and managing human resources. Austria offered its advice in said issues, as well as the possibility of specialising and interning of Croatian state officials in Austrian state administration bodies.
