Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul delivered a lecture before the South African Parliament's Foreign Policy Committee

Minister Žužul talked about the recent Croatian history, the pending EU membership, as well as about the perspectives and forms of the possible co-operation between the two countries. He reminded that Croatia has a monitoring status in the Non-aligned Movement since 1992, stressing that the Movement’s role is still relevant and needed.

As regards the tourist exchange and the economic co-operation between the two countries, Minister Žužul pointed out that the number of South African tourists that are coming to Croatia is constantly on the rise, and as regards the economic co-operation, that a large part of the South African export to Europe goes through the Croatian ports. He pointed out that Croatia is interested in being the South Africa’s ascending point towards Europe. Croatian embassy to the Republic of South Africa is the only Croatian embassy south of the Sahara desert, which is an indication of the importance Croatia places not only on the relations with the Republic of South Africa, but with the African continent as a whole.

At the end of the lecture, Minister Žužul announced that the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of South Africa will sign the Cultural Co-operation Program and that the purpose of this visit was to strengthen the cultural, tourist, economic and other forms of co-operation.
