Minister Michael was very specific when he talked about financial assistance that Belgium will provide for programs meant to facilitate the return of refugees and expert assistance to Croatia for adjustment to European standards. Such programs have already been approved by Belgium to Bulgaria and Rumania, states candidates for entry into the EU. Minister Žužul expressed satisfaction to his counterpart that Belgium, as one of the countries founders of the EU and NATO, will support Croatia in its efforts to become member of both institutions. Belgian Minister added that he particularly appreciates the way in which the recent elections in the Republic of Croatia have been conducted pursuant to European standards and announced that he will soon visit Croatia.
Minister Žužul and Ms. Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, Minister of European Integration, will accompany Mr. Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister, who will hold a series of meetings with the leading officials of the EU, its institutions and NATO, today and tomorrow.
