Assistant Foreign Minister Neven Madey lodged a strong protest today, 18 March 2004, to the Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro to Croatia, Milan Simurdić, on the occasion of the stoning of Croatian Embassy in Belgrade
Ambassador Simurdić replied that it was only a sporadic incident that will not happen again. Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs strengthened the security around the Croatian embassy. The embassy is keeping close contact with the MFA of Serbia and Montenegro and the representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, who assured them that they will protect the embassy and consular office officials, as well as the building itself.
