Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul received today, 2 April 2004, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sir John Ramsden, the newly appointed British Ambassador to Croatia, who handed his credentials

Minister Žužul welcomed Sir John Ramsden and pointed out that the arrival of a British ambassador at this point is of a special importance for Croatia, in view of its approaching the EU and NATO, adding that the coming period offers numerous possibilities for Croatia and Great Britain to establish a closer and more intense bilateral co-operation. Ambassador Ramsden expressed his satisfaction with assuming the post in Croatia and pointed out that Great Britain recognises and applauds the positive results Croatia has achieved in minorities protection and the return of refugees, and stressed the importance of co-operating with the Hague Tribunal. Ambassador John Ramsden said that Great Britain, as a member state is particularly eager to see the EU and NATO further enlarged.
