Yesterday, 22 January 2004, Croatian Ambassador to Russian Federation Božo Kovačević handed his credentials to President Vladimir Putin at the ceremony held in Kremlin, Moscow

In his speech, President Putin expressed his views of the relations between Croatia and the Russian Federation, saying that they have been constantly improving and stressing their importance in solving problems in the region. He specifically stressed the successful co-operation in economy and humanitarian activities.

During his talk with Ambassador Kovačević after the handing of the credentials, President Putin expressed his intention to visit Croatia, “whose beauty, especially the beauty of the Adriatic Sea, he often heard about from his friends and associates”.

In Russian National TV report on the handing of Kovačević's credentials to President Putin, the reporter called Croatia Russia's most important partner in that part of Europe.
