Minister Picula pointed out that the two countries have similar foreign policy goals and that they both respect the same criteria for joining Euro-Atlantic integration. He also added that Croatia has prospects to become a full member of the European Union by the end of this decade.
Members of the Bulgarian Committee emphasised the progress made by the Republic of Croatia in relation to other countries in the region and supported individual approach to the European Union. Further on, they declared that Bulgaria does not see Croatia's ambition as a hindrance to Bulgarian plans, but considers Croatia's progress as an incentive for other countries in the region. Representatives of Bulgarian delegation also pointed out the importance of cooperation between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Bulgaria on the path to the European Union considering the possibility that the EU might become tired of enlargement.
