The Charter has been handed to him as a sign of acknowledgement for the successful settling of the border dispute in Hrvatska Kostajnica in August 2002. Ambassador Vučak had been on the head of a Committee of the Government of Croatia for border crossings with Bosnia-Herzegovina which after long negotiations succeeded to return under the Croatian sovereignty the territory between the rivers Una and Unčica which was controlled by the Republic of Srpska from 1991 to 2002..
From the establishment of the border crossing on 27
August 2002, the situation between two neighbouring towns of Hrvatska
Kostajnica and Bosanska Kostajnica Kostajnica completely has fully normalised
again and intensive passenger transport between both states continues
without any incidents. The authorities of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina
believe that this is a proof how even the most difficult open issues
can be settled in agreeemnt, to the satisfaction of both sides.
