In its communiqué published today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro “strongly condemns the hooliganism in front of the Embassy of Croatia in Belgrade” in which the building of the Embassy was damaged and the coat of arms and the flag of the Republic of Croatia were profaned.
The communiqué goes on to state that the attack on the Embassy and the profanation of state symbols of the Republic of Croatia is a severe violation of the obligations of the host country under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro expresses deep regret because of these developments and demands that the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia establish the responsibility of those who were under obligation to prevent such an event and who are now responsible for finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice”, stated the communiqué.
A new date for Minister Picula’s visit to Montenegro
will be determined later by the respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs
of the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro.
