The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Tonino Picula, received the candidate for a Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Vincent I. Maduka, on 23. June 2003. Mr. Maduka was accompanied by the Nigerian businessman W.B. Dabiri.

The Nigerian representatives and Minister Picula, and Croatian officials from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian Chamber of the Economy, launched an initiative for strengthening bilateral cooperation with emphasis on the economic cooperation, as well as an initiative for closing relevant business deals.
