Italian Republic ratified the SAA...

On 24. July 2003, the Senate of the Parliament of the Italian Republic ratified the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Croatia and the EU. The SAA still has to be ratified by the House of Representatives, and according to announcements this should happen shortly.

The ratification of the SAA was the first item on the agenda of the Senate. In his introductory address, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Commission of the Senate, Fiorello Provera, and the representatives of all parties in the Senate, emphasised the excellent bilateral relations between Italy and Croatia and expressed their wish that the Republic of Croatia might be admitted to the EU.

The Ambassador of Croatia in Rome, Drago Kraljević, was invited to follow the meeting of the Senate, which was interpreted as a symbolical gesture to reflect the friendly relations between Croatia and Italy.
