Minister Rupel conveyed to Minister Picula the concern of the Slovenian side on the proclamation of the economic zone at the Adriatic Sea. Minister Picula advised Minister Rupel on the work of the Government’s Working Group for following up the reform of the EU Common Fisheries Policy and the elaboration of positions on modalities for resolving this issue. The Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia shall continue the consultations on this issue and will endeavour to include all interested countries in the discussion. International entities are to contribute to this discussion as well.
During the afternoon, the Croatian Foreign Ministry
received a note by the Slovenian Foreign Ministry in which it is stated
that when proclaiming an exclusive economic zone, the states must take
into consideration equal rights and interests of neighbouring countries,
and must not reach out to maritime space under their sovereign competence.
The Slovenian Ministry reminded the Croatian Ministry that pursuant
to provisions of international law, states are to undertake all efforts
so as to facilitate the final application of the agreed resolution during
the transitional period.
