Both Ministers expressed their mutual satisfaction with good bilateral relations and their constant growth after the establishment of democracy in both states. They particularly emphasised good economic relations, and the Hungarian Minister mentioned current investments of Hungary into Croatia worth 600 mill. USD. They both agreed that sporadic problems, such as the recent ones in the field of agriculture, should not influence the overall good relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Hungary.
Minister Kovacs confirmed full support to the entry of the Republic of Croatia into NATO and the EU by 2007. Croatia is to follow the path of other transition states and, like its predecessors, should first enter NATO, and then the EU. Hungary will transmit its experience to Croatia and lend its full support for preparing the entry into these important organisations.
Hungarian Foreign Minister invited Minister Žužul to officially visit the Republic of Hungary which the Croatian Minister accepted. On behalf of Prime Minister Sanader, Minister Žužul conveyed a wish to his counterpart that Hungarian Prime Minister, Mr. Peter Medgyessy, officially visits the Republic of Croatia, which the Hungarian side accepted.
