Aeroplane with 13.5 tons of humanitarian aid to Iran took off form the Zagreb Airport...

On 31 December 2003 at 13:20 hours, an aeroplane with 13.5 tons of humanitarian aid to Iran, forwarded by the Republic of Croatia and leading Croatian companies, took off form the Zagreb Airport. The shipment is worth 1.3 million €. The largest shipment is with Pliva's antibiotics. The shipment also includes Podravka's baby food, large tents, 500 sleeping bags, blankets and Belupo medicinal drugs. The aeroplane is headed to the Iranian city of Zahedan, the airport nearest to Bam where the disastrous earthquake took place.

This is the first delivery of humanitarian aid to Iran, while the second shipment of the Red Cross is already prepared. The Zagreb Fair is still receiving goods from the Croatian companies which are giving donations. Citizens of the Republic of Croatia have responded in large number by their own contributions, through the Red Cross.

Ms. Jadranka Kosor, Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defenders, Social Welfare and Solidarity Between Generations, Mr. Miomir Žužul, the Croatian Foreign Minister, Mr. Jafar Shamsian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and representatives of the Croatian companies which gave donations, participated in send-off the aeroplane.
