In order to register a child (minor under 18) in the Croatian Births and Nationals Registry an application has to be submitted by a legal representative provided that at the time of the child’s birth, one of the parents had Croatian citizenship.
Application can be submitted:
If a child was born in the marriage, parent - Croatian national has to register the marriage in Croatian Marriage Registry (please check instructions on https://mvep.gov.hr/consular-information-107317/marriage-180039/180039 ) prior to making an application for registering a child. If a child was born outside of marriage, mother and father have to make a written statement at the Embassy recognizing their parental rights and obligation before making the application.
INFORMATION FOR YOUNG ADULTS 18-21
In order to register a young adult for age of 18 until 21 years old in the Croatian Births and Nationals Registry, an application has to be submitted by a young adult in person by appointment only (request an appointment through https://konzularniportal.mvep.hr/?lang=en ) provided that at the time of their birth, one of the parents had a Croatian citizenship and have had their marriage registered or, if unmarried, gave a parental rights and obligation statement to the Embassy. For young adults who wish to be registered in Croatian Birth and Nationals Registry same requirements apply as indicated above for minors apart from personal submission of the application.
THE EMBASSY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REQUEST ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS WHILE CONDUCTING LEGALLY BINDING PROCEEDINGS RELATED TO EACH REQUEST SUBMITTED.
PROCESSING TIME:
The average duration of proceedings from when the application is submitted through the Embassy is 3-6 months. The same procedure in the Registrar's Office in Croatia can be made the same day.
