On this day Croatia celebrates the 24th anniversary of international recognition, remembering 15 January 1992, when all 12 member states of the then-European Community recognised it as an independent and sovereign country. Six years later, on 15 January 1998, the peaceful reintegration of Eastern Slavonia and the Danube region was completed.
In the past 24 years Croatia has realized all of its strategic goals. The Homeland War defended our freedom and independence, we became a full-fledged NATO member on 1 April 2009 and the 28th EU member state on 1 July 2013.
