Croatian President has appointed two new honorary consuls for New Zealand, Mr Leo Panžic with consular jurisdiction in North Island and based in Auckland, and Sir Peter Talijancich with consular jurisdiction for the South Island and based in Nelson.
The opening ceremonies of the Consulates, headed by honorary consuls were attended by members of the Croatian community and the Croatian Associations in New Zealand, representatives of the New Zealand Government, Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
In his remarks, Ambassador Dr. Damir Kušen stressed the importance of the appointment of new honorary consuls in New Zealand, particularly with their role in strengthening economic and cultural relations between the two countries, and the promotion of Croatia as an attractive member state of the European Union for foreign investment and business projects, academic and scientific cooperation, exchange of experience in the field of innovation and high technologies. It is especially emphasized the importance of the large Croatian community living in New Zealand as the best possible connection and a bridge of real friendship between two countries.
The newly appointed Honorary Consul Leo Panžic has presented his appreciation for the appointment and he promised to further encourage and promote friendship and cooperation between New Zealand and the Republic of Croatia. New Honorary Consul Sir Peter Talijancich, with his appreciation for the appointment, said that he would be honored to actively contribute to strengthen overall cooperation between the two countries and promote stronger economic ties and business potential of bilateral cooperation.
