Mayor Andro Krstulovic Opara with World War II evacuee Avraham Albahari

Organized by the Croatian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Mayor of the City of Split Andro Krstulovic, together with Ambassador Vesela Mrden Korac, met with World World II evacuee Avraham Albahari. At the meeting, Avraham Albahari told the Mayor how he was brought from his native Sarajevo to Split, where he was taken care of by nuns Cecilia and Karitas, who were proclaimed Righteous Among Nations in 1989, and expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of Split and all its citizens. The meeting was attended by Miriam Steiner Aviezer, who published the book The Croatian Righteous, and participates in the selection of Righteous Among the Nations from Croatia in collaboration with Yad Vashem - World Holocaust Remembrance Center as well as Lada Curkovic, First Secretary at the Embassy in Tel Aviv. A day earlier, Mayor Krstulovic Opara visited Yad Vashem and the memorial center and laid a wreath for the victims of the Holocaust.
