The 26th International Mediterranean Tourism Market, Israel"s leading fair dedicated to tourism in the Mediterranean and beyond, took place in Tel Aviv on February 11-12, 2020. The fair is the largest professional tourism fair in the Eastern Mediterranean with the number of exhibitors and visitors increasing every year. This year, more than 1,500 exhibitors attended with over 400 booths from nearly 60 countries, as well as tens of thousands of visitors.
Israeli Tourism Minister Yarin Levin open the fair with a working breakfast, where the Ambassador Vesela Mrden Korac met with the minister.
Croatia was represented at the fair by the Zagreb Tourist Board in collaboration with the Uniline Agency and representatives of wellness and spa tourism - Terme Sveti Martin, Krapinske Toplice, Slunj Tourist Board, Q-travels Agency and Dreamtime Events Croatia. Dental tourism services were also presented by the Ortoimplant dental office.
Within the fair, a Conference on Wellness Tourism took place, with a special panel dedicated to wellness and health tourism in Croatia. The panel was opened by Ambassador Mrden Korac, who emphasized that Croatia is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, Europe and the world due to its geographical location, natural beauty, developed tourist infrastructure and rich tourist offer and cultural heritage, with the number of tourists constantly on the rise. Ambassador Mrden Korac expressed her satisfaction that more than 20 million tourists visited Croatia in 2019 as well as her hope that the number of Israeli tourists would follow this growing trend in the coming period.
The panel was attended by the speakers: Matija Posavec, Governor of Medimurje County, Ernest Svažic, Mayor of Krapinske Toplice Municipality, representative of the Slunj Tourist Board Dragan Smrzlic, representatives of Terme Sveti Martin Igor Nekic and Nuša Korotaj, and Q-Travels representative Petra Gracin, who presented to the Israeli audience the philosophy, offer and benefits of wellness and spa tourism in Croatia.
