The delegation from the Ministry of Croatian Veterans and representatives of the associations of Homeland War veterans led by Secretary of State Nevenka Benic was on a study visit to the State of Israel from 14 to 20 December 2019, organized by the Embassy of Croatia in Israel, which prepared the program of the visit with the Ministry of Defense of Israel.
The visit was organized as part of the project "Strengthening the Capacity of Psychosocial Care Professionals for Croatian Veterans and Homeland War Victims - Phase 1", co-funded by the European Social Fund, and designed for enhancing the knowledge and skills in working with the Homeland War veterans and victims.
A study visit to Israel is one of the key activities of the Project, and envisages knowledge and experience exchange, as well as identifying new techniques and methods of work aimed at improving the system of comprehensive care for the Homeland War veterans and victims.
The study visit included meetings and fruitful discussions with Mr. Arie Mualem, Head and Deputy-Director General of the Department of Family and Remembrance at the Ministry of Defense of Israel and Mr. Hezi Meshita, of Rehabilitation of the Persons with Disabilities of the Ministry of Defense of Israel, as well as the representatives of the Margoza and Beit Halochem Rehabilitation Centers.
