Zagorski Štrukli on the “menu” in Israel – on the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage

On the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, in collaboration of the EU Delegation, embassies of the Member States and Ruthie Russo, a celebrity Israeli chef and columnist, the Member States have presented some of their traditional dishes to the Israeli public, via a special website: From Croatia, there are Zagorski štrukli on the “menu”. Along with the photos and the recipe, there is as well a special message of Tina Krce, Chargée d"Affaires a.i. of the Croatian Embassy in Israel: “A unique fusion of Mediterranean and Central-European cuisine, which reveals the true, multi-faceted character of the country – that might be the best description of Croatian culinary richness. There is so much to enjoy – from award-winning olive oil, wine and cheese, great seafood, tender meat dishes and original desserts. Today, I invite you to taste the traditional Zagorski štrukli, a savoring cheese and pastry dish from the continental, picturesque North-Western part of Croatia and one of my favorite dishes. Enjoy Zagorski štrukli – you may even try making them yourselves! Dobar tek! Beteavon!” Among many dishes, the Israeli chef Ruthie Russo selected the Zagorski štrukli as a very interesting dish which she suggests preparing during Shavuot, a Jewish holiday with tradition of eating dairy foods such as cheese - which was published in the weekend edition of the Yedioth Ahronoth.
