On 4 September 2017, the Republic of Croatia and the State of Israel have marked and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
This anniversary, and the 25th anniversary of the international recognition of Republic of Croatia, was celebrated in Tel Aviv, at the Dan Tel Aviv Hotel, with about 200 guests from the Israeli administration and public, business, academic, religious, culture life and media, with many Israeli citizens of Croatian origin and Croatian citizens living in Israel, and the diplomatic corps - ambassadors in great number.
In her speech, Mrs Tina Krce, Chargée d"Affaires a.i. at the Croatian Embassy in Israel, emphasized that Israel has a genuine and reliable friend and partner in Croatia, open to and interested in diversifying and deepening further our relations through many and diverse co-operation channels.
The Israeli government was represented by the Minister of Communications Ayoob Kara. Minister noted that the ties between Croatia and Israel have flourished and continue to grow ever stronger, thanking Croatia for it, as well as expressed his wish that the Croatian-Israeli friendship and co-operation will be further strengthened in many aspects.
At the reception, in the presence of Mr. Ivan Culo, CEO of the Croatian Post, the joint Croatia-Israel stamp issue, marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, was presented - with the flowers characteristic for the two countries: Israeli Crown Anemone and Croatian Iris. It was designed by Croatian designer Sabina Rešic. The framed stamps were presented to the Honorary Consuls of Croatia in Israel and Mrs Miriam Aviezer-Steiner, the author of the book about Croatian Righteous Among the Nations. The stamps were given as a present to all guests.
During the evening, Croatian dishes Zagorski štrukli and Fritule, among other dishes, were served and promotional touristic videos about Croatia and a video about the cooperation of Croatian and Israeli firefighting squadrons were shown.
The event was sponsored by the Honorary Consuls of Croatia in Israel Samuel Ivan Schlesinger, Yossi Landesman, Ran Fuchs, Aaron Frenkel, and by the Croatian Post with the stamps donation.
