27 January - International Holocaust Remembrance Day
On 26 January 2017 in Jerusalem, Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, hosted members of the international diplomatic community at an event marking the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed diplomatic corps. A diary of Ruth Kalka, which she kept between 1942-1945 while interned in the Czestochowa ghetto (Poland), escaping from the ghetto and hiding for two years, was unveiled at the event. Ms Tina Krce, chargée d"affaires a.i. at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Israel, attended the event.
On 27 January 2017 in Kibbutz Tel Yitzhak, the Massuah Institute for Holocaust Studies, hosted as well an event commemorating the victims of the Holocaust. Israeli Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked and Chief of the State Protocol Meron Reuben addressed the audience and a video message of the Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was shown. Speakers touched upon the issue of antisemitism and incitement on the Internet. Members of the diplomatic corps laid white roses in the Institute’s memorial area. The event was attended by chargée d"affaires a.i. Tina Krce.
