Director of “The Memorial Centre of Homeland War Vukovar” Zoran šangut visited Israel from 18-20 December 2016, with an aim to present the work and activities of the Memorial Centre, further strengthen and deepen cooperation with the Israeli institutions and to establish cooperation with additional partners.
A central part of Mr šangut’s visit was the Yad Vashem - The World Holocaust Remembrance Centre in Jerusalem. Mr šangut visited the Holocaust History Museum, rekindled the eternal flame and laid a wreath in the Hall of Remembrance and signed the Guest Book. He visited as well the Children’s Memorial and the Oscar statue won by Croatian producer Branko Lustig for the movie “Schindler"s List”, given to the Yad Vashem. Mr šangut met with the representatives of the Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies.
Moreover, Mr šangut visited the Israel Defence Forces Veterans of War Association (Tzevet) and Yad Lashiryon - the Armored Corps’ Memorial Site and Armored Fighting Vehicles Museum in Latrun, and had meetings with their representatives. He also visited the Independence Hall in Tel Aviv - the birthplace of the State of Israel, and the sights in Jerusalem, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
