Croatian performance of "Anne Frank" in Israel

Zagreb City Theater Company "Trešnja", on Tuesday, 12 May, in the Arab-Hebrew Theater in the Old City of Jaffa, performed the play "Anne Frank", dedicated to the tragic fate of the Jewish girl in the Holocaust who had been hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam, leaving her deeply moving diary behind, before being discovered and taken to Bergen Belsen, from where she did not come back. The author of the play is director Jakov Sedlar, Ana Frank is peformed by actresses Lucia Stefania Glavich Mandarich and Karla Brbic, the play is accompanied by a documentary film by director Dominik Sedlar, featuring also famous film producer Branko Luistig, an Auschwitz survivor, talking on the fate of Anne Frank, and with the poster for the play designed by illustrator Mirko Ilic. The play has a strong educational character, it commemorates the 70. anniversary of the liberation of death camp Auschwitz and the Allied victory in the World War II. It had its premiere on 6 March in Zagreb. The Croatian performance of "Anne Frank" was attended, together with director Jakov Sedlar and Croatian Honorary Consul Samuel Schlesinger, by Ambassador Pjer šimunovic.
