Ambassador Pjer šimunovic, representing the Republic of Croatia, among invited victorious Allies from the World War II, attended the solemn State Event in Israel marking the Victory in Europe Day, the 70th Anniversary of the Allied Victory over Nazi Germany, held at the Armored Corps Memorial Site and Museum at Latrun. The Victory in Europe Day in Israel is comemmorated especially in honour of 1.5 million Jewish soldiers who fought with the Allied forces and resistance movements in the World War II, which had brough to the Jews an unimaginable suffering in the Holocaust in the hands of Nazis and their collaborators. The ceremony, attended by the Jewish war veterans from the World War II and invitees, was addressed by Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel, Binyamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister, and Defence Minister Moshe Ya"alon.
