The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Ottawa and the City of Ottawa officialy opened the Art exhibition of the City of Zagreb, at the Suxess Gallery in Ottawa in September 18, 2006.
The five Croatian artist and the members of the Croatian association of artists were presented to the Ottawa diplomatic and cultural community: Zlatko Keser, Vatroslav Kuliš, Nina Ivancic, Bane Milenkovic and Ivan Skvrce.
This was for the fisrt time the City of Zagreb was presented in Canada. The exhibition was held under the auspicies of Croatian Ambassador in Canada Vesela Mrden Korac and the Mayor of Ottawa Bob Chiarelli.
Zagreb was represented by Pavle Kalinic, the Head of the Department of Culture, Education and Sport of the City of Zagreb. The youngest among the artists Ivan Skvrce was present and he addressed the audience. He stressed the differences of five artists but also said all of them believe the visual art still has a lot to offer in the mass cultural and media area.
More then 120 guests were present from the Diplomatic community, Canadian government and cultural institutions in Ottawa, as well as from the Croatian community in Ottawa and Montreal.
The event was presented in the local press - Ottawa Citizen, Ottawa Sun and the Embassy journal.
Croatian Embassy presented the exhibition to the young participants of the Croatian language school in Ottawa. Ambassador Mrden Korac and the First Secreatry Antun Mahnic introduced to them the art work and the authors. Sandra Kuševic, the teacher and Ivan Basar, the president of the Board of parents were present as well.
