The Quality of Life Foundation led by Ms. Hiroko Suzuki is organizing and providing financial support for the study trips and training of oncological surgeons from all around the world at the most prestigious Japanese cancer research and treatment institutions. Funds for this purpose are gathered through engagement with donors at the gala dinners titled Power of Elegance. The Croatian Embassy regularly supports and Croatian ambassador regularly participates in these events. Dr. Iva Kirac, oncological surgeon at the Clinic for Tumors of the Clinical Center Sestre Milosrdnice in Zagreb, Croatia, was one of this year’s beneficiaries of this noble project. Dr. Kirac attended the training program at the Cancer Institute Hospital of Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research and the University of Tokyo Hospital in second half of October and first half of November. The knowledge and expertise dr. Kirac gained during her stay in Japan could be an important milestone in further advancement of gastric cancer treatment in Croatia taking into account that Japan is a world leader in prevention and treatment of gastric cancer. Dr. Kirac addressed the audience at this year’s gala dinner organized with the aim to raise funds for the next generation of project participants.
