Marking the entry into force of the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan

The Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan has entered into force on 1 February 2019. In order to mark and celebrate this important event, the Delegation of the European Union to Japan organised a reception that was attended by many European and Japanese dignitaries. Various Japanese and European products, including Croatian Crljenak wine, were displayed during the reception with the aim of symbolically presenting the opportunities created by the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan. The Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan is an ambitious agreement that creates a trade area covering more than 600 million people and almost one third of the world’s gross domestic product. It is expected that the EU-Japan EPA will have a wide-reaching positive effect on the EU and Japan’s economies and further strengthen trade relations between the EU and Japan.
