In the renowned Japanese wine guide “World Wines Dictionary – edition 2009-10“ published yearly by Kodansha, one of the leading Japanese publishing companies, Croatian wines “Klikun Noire” and “Chardonnay” of Croatian wine maker KUTJEVO were presented. This is the first time ever that Croatian wines found their place in prestigious Japanese wine guide and this will certainly boost the popularity of Croatian wines among Japanese consumers.
Besides wines, several Japanese companies recently started importing Croatian products, mainly those which bear the mark “Croatian Quality” and “Croatian Creation”, such as “Karlovacko Light Beer” of KARLOVACKA PIVOVARA, “Bajadera” and “Napolitanke” of KRAS, SMS's olive oil and dry-fruit jam, as well as PREHRANA's pumpkin oil. Moreover, Croatian natural mineral waters “Jana” and “Jamnica” are being sold in Japan from 2007.
With significant growth of Japanese tourists visiting Croatia, interest of Japanese importers for Croatian product increased, and this also is going to contribute to widen the presence of Croatian products on Japanese market.
