Croatian-Lithuanian bilateral relations
Lithuania recognized the independence of Croatia on July 30, 1991, and Croatia recognized the independence of Lithuania on August 3, 1991. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on March 18, 1992.
Relations between Croatia and Lithuania are very good, and have a tendency for further development in all fields of bilateral co-operation: politics, defence, education, culture, economy (including tourism) etc. Lithuania strongly supports Croatia's EU membership.
As partner countries within NATO, Lithuania and Croatia cooperate intensively in the A3-B3 format (countries of the US-Adriatic Charter and the US-Baltic Charter). Lithuania shares with Croatia its experience from the EU accession process through political and technical consultations.
High-level bilateral contacts have been intensified in the recent period. The list of Croatian high-level officials visiting Lithuania has included President Stjepan Mesic (2007), Prime Minister Ivo Sanader (2005) and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic (2006). The list of Lithuanian high-level officials visiting Croatia has included President Valdas Adamkus (2005), Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas (2008) and Foreign Ministers Antanas Valionis and Petras Vaitiekunas (2005 and 2007).
