During the visit of the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts of the Republic of Croatia, Darko Horvat, to the Republic of Albania on 18 July 2019, an Albanian-Croatian Economic Forum was held in Tirana, organized by the Chamber of Industry and Trade of Tirana and the Croatian Chamber of Economy and with the support of the Croatian Embassy. It was the biggest Albanian-Croatian Economic Forum to date, where over 80 Albanian and Croatian companies were present. The Forum was opened by the President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Nikolin Jaka and the Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce for International Affairs and EU Ivan Barbaric. The Minister of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Albania Anila Denaj and Minister Darko Horvat made opening remarks, as well as Eduard Shalsi, Minister for the Protection of Entrepreneurship of Republic of Albania and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Albania Sanja Bujas Juraga.
The traditionally good relations between Albania and Croatia and the excellent political cooperation have been highlighted, noting that economic cooperation does not follow these trends. There was a positive trend in trade exchange this year, as in the first four months of 2019, trade between Albania and Croatia nearly doubled, from EUR 15 million to EUR 27 million. Infrastructure, energy, tourism, the pharmaceutical industry and environmental protection are just some of the areas with the potential for increasing economic cooperation between Croatia and Albania. The need to encourage and develop economic co-operation has been emphasized in order to accomplish the full potential two countries have. After the official part, the companies had the opportunity to discuss a potential business co-operation directly on B2B meetings.
